Dear Jack, When we got the news you left us, we were knocked to our kness, broken with despair. The waves of emotions we experienced were like nothing we could have imagined. Thoughts flooded our minds...what did we do wrong? Would our boy be properly remembered? There were so many things you hadn't yet done- how could we suffer the void you left? These thoughts and questions left us clinging to each other through sleepless nights searching for answers. But we are writing you this letter to let you know it's okay to go-we have no anger, no shame only love. We know you found that transcendent connection you always sought. We know you are perfectly satisfied in God's light and Grace. When we visited you the day after you passed we could see on your face you had gone peacefully and were greeted by something beautiful well beyond human thought and expression. We want you to go in peace with no guilt or regrets. With respect to unfinished business- we'll take it from here: Know that you'll never be forgotten- every time Maria, Mommy, Jr and Becca let loose into a big belly laugh, we'll know you're laughing along with them. On a lazy Sunday afternoon when Daddy asks Mommy for a little plate of food we'll remember you want one too. When Sophia and Bella are playing on your computer we'll see you standing over their shoulder cracking wise remarks. With regards to your worldly possessions have no concerns: Your brother and sisters will wear your clothes and Dad your shoes. We'll make sure your big comfy bed is well used. We'll take turns enjoying cat naps on it just as you loved to. Sophia will learn to play your guitar and take it with her when she performs. When we stumble upon your music and writings we'll include them in our playlists and memories. When Jr. grabs his diploma this spring he'll make sure you are grabbing yours too. We'll make sure Rocky keeps up with his walks and drops those extra pounds just like you wanted him to. Daddy will stay up late on Sunday and watch Game of Thrones with Mommy. We will all learn to appreciate Anime so Bella doesn't have to watch it alone. We'll develop a "kinder ear" to listen to each other's thoughts and ideas. We'll take turns asking Mom what's for dinner with that wry little smile on our face. But most importantly we will connect more, hug more and laugh more. So Jack be assured your memories are safe with us, your old possessions will be properly enjoyed and as we work to finish your business and fill your void. You will make us all closer as a family. Rest now son enjoy God's light and love without guilt or regret, until we meet again on that beautiful transcendent plane with our undying love. Mommy and Daddy
