Jack's birthday parties were always small in nature. He liked them so he can talk to everyone and not be too overwhelmed by numbers. He would always invite his closest friends and he liked them always at home. They can eat munchy stuff, pizza, cakes and chips was his standard menu. They would play games etc. They would all sleep over so it is always a late night for me too. On his last Birthday party, I remember going to the store and buying all the goodies and this machine that emitted colorful lights on the ceiling coinciding with the music that is plugged into it usually an Ipod or Phone, called my attention. I saw this and thought he would love this for his birthday party....then I looked at the price. It was 89.00 dollars supposedly marked down from like 160. I walked away....then 10 minutes later walked by it again. I stopped thought about what I had in the cart and then walked away again. 10 minutes later I'm back again, added the cost in the cart and that machine and walked away again. Finally about to get in line to check out and at the last minute a voice inside me just said...just get it. So I went and got it and nervously went to check out, a little apprehensive at how I was going to tell Gregg what I spent. Going home, I started to get excited. I came home and I called him down immediately and I will always remember his face. The look of excitement at this machine, his party that night and the joy that he was anticipating. He kissed me and said "Thank you Mom, I totally love this". It is a special memory for me and I thank the spirit for whispering in my ear to "just get it". All night I was told not to come downstairs but I bargained with him that I would come down for birthday cake time and he agreed. All night all I heard was them jamming with their musical instruments. A lot of his friends played instruments..guitars, ukelele, djembe and one played really well on the piano. When the time came for birthday cake, I took some pictures and took a video of an impromptu rendition of their birthday song for Jack with Jack playing his guitar. I love that and you can hear me telling them to try to end the song for it seemed like this was going to go on forever.... I'm so happy that Jack had a great time with all of his friends that night....We love you forever Jack!! Happy Happy Birthday!!
