The Ghost of Cape May

It was our somewhat annual trip to the Jersey shore. We mostly stayed in Ocean City but this time we decided to try Cape May. My hubby got a rental of a house that was built in 1800's. We both saw pictures of it on the web and it looked antique, Victorian and full of character. Upon arrival the kids loved that it had many rooms but the pictures throughout the house creeped them out. The pictures were antique, black and white and it was filled with people that didn't smile. Then the dining room floor tilted down which made walking on it kinda funny. Anyway we were excited until the second, third day and the temperature outside was hot and hardly any breeze. This house had no air conditioning and normally that is okay since we do get a nice ocean breeze living only a block away from the ocean. So the bedrooms on the third floor was assigned to Jack and Jr. Of course with the heat, Jack opted to sleep on the couch in the living room. So we all went to bed on the third day, we all had fans in every room and Gregg and I finally fell asleep in that heat. Then all of a sudden we both heard heavy stomping up the stairs. My hubby climbed out of bed and yelled to Jack if he was okay. So Gregg ran upstairs and found Jack on his bed under the covers with the temperature up there in the 100's. He asked him what happened and this is how Jack described what happened. He said he was laying there playing games on the tv. He saw something like a lit cell phone around the dining room coming towards him like Jr was coming to him using his cell phone as a flashlight. He didn't anything of it, then he turned around and said Hey Jr. So he stood up to look and there was no Jr. Then he felt a whisper in his ear....but couldn't quite understand ..but a definite breathy whisper and made the hair in the back of his head stand up. This is when he leapt up and bounded up the stairs........ After that Gregg went down to check if everything was locked down and make sure no one was downstairs. After we calmed him down, he ended up sleeping in the foot of our bed which was hardwood floors.... Our poor Jack...the funny thing is he likes to scare his younger siblings and this time he was the one who really got a scare.... We talked about this story for days and years to come.....
